See the Field is a free iOS app that teaches American football strategy through interactive quizzes and animated play breakdowns. Think of it as Duolingo meets the Madden film room. It covers formations, coverages, play calling, and more through 6 different game modes with over 920 questions and 52 animated plays.

Not at all. When you first open the app, you'll choose your experience level — Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced. The curriculum starts with the basics (recognizing formations) and gradually introduces more complex concepts like reading coverages and calling plays. Each level builds on the last.

No. See the Field works entirely without an account. Your progress is stored locally on your device. Optional iCloud sync can back up your profile across devices.

Formation Flash — Identify offensive formations under time pressure. Five difficulty tiers from Rookie to All-Pro.

Coverage Read — Read defensive alignments to identify coverage shells from safety, corner, and linebacker positions.

Play Call — Given a situation, pick the best play. Graded A through D with partial credit.

Counter Pick — Think like a defensive coordinator. Pick the right coverage to shut down an offensive look.

Film Room — Watch 52 animated plays unfold and break down what happened — like studying game tape.

Daily Drive — One curated challenge per day. Quick, shareable, and available from day one.

Game modes unlock as you play. Formation Flash and Daily Drive are available from the start. Coverage Read unlocks after 10 Formation Flash rounds. Play Call and Counter Pick unlock through Coverage Read, and Film Room unlocks through Play Call. This ensures you build a solid foundation before tackling more advanced modes.

There are 5 difficulty tiers: Rookie, Varsity, College, Pro, and All-Pro. Higher tiers give less time per question and award more Yards through multipliers (1x for Rookie up to 3x for All-Pro). The app's Glicko-2 rating engine also adapts question difficulty to your performance level.

You earn Yards by answering questions correctly. Your Football IQ (Field Vision) rating adapts based on your performance using a Glicko-2 engine. You progress through 5 curriculum levels, earn 19 achievement badges, complete daily quests, and maintain streaks. The system is designed to keep you engaged and learning consistently.

If you miss exactly one day, a streak freeze is automatically deployed to protect your streak. You earn additional streak freezes at 30-day streak milestones, up to a maximum of 2 stored freezes.

Each day you receive 3 rotating quests from a pool of 15 quest templates. Complete each quest to claim individual rewards, and complete all 3 for a bonus of 50 Yards.

Go to the Profile tab, then Settings. Scroll to the bottom and tap "Reset All Progress." Please note this action cannot be undone — all your stats, badges, and progress will be permanently deleted.

3. Restart your device
4. If the issue persists, try deleting and reinstalling the app (note: this will reset your progress unless you have iCloud sync enabled)

Yes. If you have iCloud enabled on your devices, your profile and progress can sync via iCloud CloudKit. Make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID on both devices.
